Used iPhone Screen Quality: How We Test Displays Before Wholesale
The display is the most expensive component of a used iPhone and the first thing an end customer judges. Here is exactly what we test on every screen before a device enters stock, and what each grade tells you about the display you will receive.
What display checks are part of the 60-point inspection?
Every iPhone, in every grade, goes through the same display tests: touch response across the whole panel including multi-touch, dead and stuck pixels on solid-color test screens, panel uniformity and burn-in, maximum brightness, and True Tone behavior. We also open iOS settings on every unit and check for parts warning messages. A display that fails any of these checks does not ship, in any grade.
What does each grade tell you about the display?
Only Activated units carry the factory display in as-new condition; the device was activated but never used.
A / A- units keep their original Apple display. Cosmetically you can expect light everyday signs of use at most, and a unit whose display needed replacing does not qualify for this grade.
AB (changed parts) units are A / A- devices we repaired, usually with a new display plus a new battery. The new display shows no parts warning message and passes the same functional checks as every original display in our stock.
Why do parts warnings matter for resale?
Since iOS 13.1, iPhones flag display replacements directly in Settings. A warning message lowers end-customer trust and resale price even when the screen itself works fine. That is why the AB (changed parts) grade is built around displays that show no warning message: your customer opens Settings and finds nothing to argue about.
What should you check on receipt?
Run your own incoming check: solid-color images for pixels and uniformity, a slow touch drag across the panel, brightness to maximum, and Settings for parts messages. If anything slips through, every grade carries the same 30-day warranty and our RMA process handles it per unit by IMEI. Our RMA rate stays under 1.5%.
