Apple strengthens commitment to racial equity and justice initiatives

Apple has reinforced its commitment to racial equity and justice by allocating additional resources to its Racial Equity and Justice Initiative (REJI), a program aimed at addressing systemic racism and expanding opportunities for communities of color.

The company announced new projects, including the opening of the Propel Center in Atlanta, a global innovation and learning hub for Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs). Apple is also investing in venture capital funds that support minority entrepreneurs and increasing its spending with Black-owned suppliers.

“We are committed to being a force for change in the communities where we work and live,” said Lisa Jackson, Apple’s Vice President of Environment, Policy, and Social Initiatives. “By investing in education, entrepreneurship, and criminal justice reform, we’re tackling the barriers to opportunity that exist for communities of color.”

Apple’s REJI also supports nonprofit organizations like the Equal Justice Initiative and has launched programs to promote diversity and inclusion within the company, including mentorship and career development opportunities for employees from underrepresented groups.
