Apple has announced a significant investment in renewable energy initiatives as part of its ongoing commitment to combat climate change and achieve carbon neutrality across its entire business by 2030.
The company is expanding its portfolio of clean energy projects by investing in solar and wind farms across multiple countries, including the United States, China, and several European nations. These projects aim to generate over 1 gigawatt of renewable energy, which is enough to power approximately 1 million homes.
“Climate change is one of the defining issues of our time, and we believe that businesses have a profound responsibility to help address it,” said Lisa Jackson, Apple’s Vice President of Environment, Policy, and Social Initiatives. “By investing in renewable energy projects worldwide, we’re not only reducing our carbon footprint but also contributing to the availability of clean energy in communities globally.”
Apple’s environmental initiatives also include the use of 100% recycled materials in its products, reducing water usage, and pioneering innovative recycling technologies like the Daisy robot, which disassembles iPhones to recover valuable materials.
